HIPAA IN YOUR POCKET: THE NCHICA BREACH REFERENCE APPLICATION

Reasearch Triangle Park, NC – NCHICA has teamed with Oak Grove Technologies to produce a mobile app version of the HITECH Act Breach Notification Risk Assessment Tool. The NCHICA Breach Reference Application is a tool designed to help healthcare entities — hospitals, physician offices, clinics, etc. — make preliminary assessments of potential privacy breaches. The app allows staff and IT security professionals to assess whether a data breach has occurred and gives them a “total risk score” for any potential data breach. It walks users through action steps required under the HITECH Act, and allows them to alert other staff members of a potential breach in order to determine whether an investigation needs to take place.
