SUPPORTING TRANSITIONING VETERANS

Fayetteville, NC –Founder and CEO, Mark Gross, spoke to Veterans and Servicemembers about his entrepreneurial journey at American Dream U’s Developing the Next Generation of Great Leadersevent at Fort Bragg.

Mark spoke about his background in the military and his transition from the Army; how he joined the corporate world and became fairly successful in sales. It wasn’t until 9/11 that his “service-bug took over”. Although he was no longer enlisted in the Army, he wanted to continue his service. The result: Oak Grove Technologies.

Over the past eleven years, Oak Grove Technologies has grown from a simple start-up with three employees working in his kitchen into a multi-million dollar company with employees around the globe.

Mark’s advice to the audience is to try! “Failure is a part of the journey,” he said. “You can try and fail, but at least you tried.” He added, “most people don’t give themselves the time to succeed. They give up too soon and resort to something comfortable.”

• Overcome your fears – “Get comfortable being uncomfortable”
• Have a solid business plan
• Do something every day that scares you; take risks
• Be persistent
• Learn to be resilient – understand that failure is part of the journey
• Believe in yourself – rid yourself of naysayers
• Stay humble

Mark has helped start up 15 companies and continues to offer his advice to fellow Veterans.
