OAK GROVE TECHNOLOGIES ASSISTS IN BUILDING WWII GLIDER AT CAMP MACKALL

Many are unaware that before the Army’s Special Forces, Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations soldiers have occupied Camp Mackall, it was previously home to the nation’s parachute and glider training during World War II. On Thursday, June 7th, 2018 the U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School dedicated a replica of a Waco CG-4A glider that now greets all visitors from Camp Mackall’s Ashemont Road entrance. 

Oak Grove Technologies was proud to play a key role in building and placing the glider where it now stands today. The glider was built to be a more robust version on the original CG-4A gliders to withstand the weather. Amazingly, the nose of the glider includes an original metal frame that was pulled from a nearby swamp in the years past.
