PARENTING FOR SERVICE MEMBERS AND VETERANS

Alexandria, VA – Oak Grove is pleased to announce the launch of Parenting for Service Members and Veterans.

Parenting is a public facing web-based learning resource that provides invaluable training for Service Members and Veterans in the area of parenting in the context of military life. This free online course features tools to support Veteran and Service Member parenting. These tools include:

• Parenting information and strategies for Service Member and Veteran parents
• Guidance to help parents reconnect with their children after deployment and beyond
• Videos of real families’ stories, and helpful practical parenting tip sheets

Parenting for Service Members and Veterans, the second installment in the web mediated self-help series, was conceptualized by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Mental Health Services in partnership with the Department of Defense National Center and Technology (T2) as part of a coordinated public health initiative to help military and veteran parents who are having difficulties.

The Oak Grove eLearning team developed the highly interactive self-paced course using a spiral development process, in which course design and development was executed simultaneously in order to adapt to changing requirements.

For this project, Oak Grove performed tasks throughout the ADDIE cycle to include: project management, Instructional Design, multimedia interactivity design and development, e-Learning production, and video production while ensuring the entire training course is fully compliant with SCORM 2004 standards and met CFR 508 requirements.
