SOFTWARE TRAINING FOR NURSES

Alexandria, VA – Adventist HealthCare selected Oak Grove Technologies to develop Care Excellence CPOE/Phase III Training: Nursing.

This web-based course will focus on enhancements to Adventist’s electronic medical record (EMR) software, Cerner. Nurses use the software in patient care planning and documentation, including for tasks related to CPOE (computerized physician order entry). The software interface, CareCompass, is used by interdisciplinary teams of clinical professionals to plan and prioritize patient care. This courseware showcases the updated interface, which is designed for nurses to navigate more fluidly between tasks ranging from updating patient records in batches to focusing on aspects of individualized care.

Care Excellence CPOE/Phase III Training: Nursing complements Adventist’s classroom training for nurses by highlighting some of the latest required processes through animated demonstrations and interactive practice opportunities. Much like the software it describes, the course supports the goal of streamlining the task load for nurses by providing training that is concise and dynamic to lessen the impact of the “learning curve” in terms of knowledge transfer and time off task.

In 2012, Oak Grove delivered a series of 17 EMR courses for Adventist HealthCare, which supported the transition from paper-based records to a centralized EMR system for all disciplines. At a higher level, the Cerner implementation was part of a larger initiative to promote Care Excellence across Adventist HealthCare.
