SUPPORTING VETERANS WITH WEB-MEDIATED SELF-HELP

The Department of Veterans Affairs, Mental Health Services awarded the next phase of the Web-Mediated Self-Help (WMSH) series to Oak Grove Technologies and Novus Origo.

The third course in the WMSH series is titled Anger and Irritability Management Skills, or AIMS. David Blair, Ph.D., Oak Grove’s program manager says, “This course is unique because it is designed and developed specifically for Veterans seeking self-paced skill acquisition. Thousands of American Veterans and Service Members around the world have used this treatment protocol successfully.”

AIMS will focus on helping Veterans and Service Members learn behavioral and cognitive skills to manage anger. AIMS’ tools and techniques are based on Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a scientifically proven protocol.

The AIMS courseware development will result in a five-hour, highly interactive, public access, web-based course. The seven modules that comprise the course will be developed in two phases: 1) analysis and design, 2) development and deployment. Like all courses in the WMSH series, AIMS will be designed and developed to meet Section 508 accessibility requirements.

VA and Oak Grove have worked together to create two existing world-class web-based WMSH courses: Moving Forward: Overcoming Life’s Challenges, and Parenting for Service Members and Veterans. Novus Origo which means “new origin,” brings a wealth of training and courseware development proficiency to the team. Their expertise includes Section 508 compliance, platform development, and overall quality control.
