THE PRESIDENT’S VOLUNTEER SERVICE AWARD

Raleigh, NC – Oak Grove Technologies was given The President’s Volunteer Service Award in recognition and appreciation of its commitment to strengthening our Nation and for making a difference through volunteer service.

The award was presented by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation to Oak Grove for its contributions to the U.S. Veterans Corps in 2013. The organization is a Corps of military Veterans, spouses, dependents and patriotic citizens performing hands-on community service. They are well known for their mission called Operation: Coming Home. Operation Coming Home is a project where the members of the Home Builders Association (HBA) build and donate a brand new “Hero Home” for a disabled combat veteran.

However, the work of the U.S. Veterans Corps does not stop there. They participate in several community service projects and events in the military and civilian community. Just recently, they set up displays at the VA Hospital for Veterans Week, hosted military brat Boy Scouts for a camp-out at their operations center, and collected “toys for ‘lil’ troops” for the holidays.

Today, the US Veterans Corps has volunteers from every U.S. Military Branch, Military spouses, Military BRATS, ROTC, patriotic citizens, Foreign Allied Military, and a parachute and rappel team.
